検索エンジンの種類は２つ
検索エンジンには「ロボット型」と「ディレクトリ型」の２種類があります。
Yahoo！でいうと、Yahoo！検索がロボット型で、Yahoo！カテゴリがディレクトリ型です。
人が収集するかロボットが収集するかの違い
ロボット型とディレクトリ型の大きな違いは、人の手によって情報が収集されるか、クローラーと呼ばれるページ収集ソフトウェアによって自動的に収集されるかの違いです。
つまり、ディレクトリ型は人力によって情報収集、整理されますが、ロボット型は機械的に情報収集され整理されます。
ちなみに現在は、動画検索やブログ検索、画像検索など、さまざまな検索サービスがありますが、そのほとんどがロボット型検索エンジンを採用しています。ＷＥＢ上には何百億というＷＥＢページが存在していますので、人力での情報収集には限界がありますよね。
